Academic conferences are rich opportunities for learning, yet they are typically dominated by researchers. However, the organizers of the RESPECT Conference are working to broaden the base of both presenters and participants, and they are explicitly inviting K-12 CS teachers to join. This is a wonderful and unique opportunity for researchers and teachers to learn directly from one another. Please consider sharing your voice and experience with equitable CS education.
RESPECT stands for Research in Equity and Sustained Participation in Engineering, Computing, and Technology. This conference is the premier venue for research on equity, inclusion, and justice in computing and computing education. It will be held virtually on May 23-27, 2021, with the theme, “From Broadening Participation to Justice-Centered CS Education.”Recognizing the important role that broader stakeholders play as partners in equity-focused efforts, RESPECT welcomes the participation of those who have not traditionally identified as “researchers” to present this year, including teachers, students, advocates, and policy-makers.
