Michelle Lagos is a long-time CSTA member and current At-Large Representative on the Board. She teaches at the American School in Tegucigalpa and has been a part of CSTA since 2007.
When did you become involved with CSTA?
I started on the board in 2008, and was the first Latin American member to be elected! I attended the conference that year for the first time, when it was much smaller.
What does CSTA mean to you?
There is a sense of community that CSTA gives – it’s still a family. You are still seeing some of the same members year after year, and that’s important. People love this association and get to socialize with other teachers and find resources.
What would you say is the best CSTA+ benefit?
I would say the biggest CSTA+ benefit is what it gives back to CSTA Chapters. It’s new for CSTA to be supporting grants with dues.
Where do you see the future of CSTA+?
When you become a CSTA+ member you become a representative of the organization. People who want to be more involved, like applying to the board and committees, may need to be CSTA+ [members] someday, and we need to move towards that.
